AWARENESS TRAILER
The D.U.I. Awareness Trailer or “Crash
Trailer” is used to make the public aware of the
danger of drinking and driving. The vehicle on the trailer
is normally a vehicle that has been involved in a collision
as a result of someone driving the vehicle that was under
the influence of drugs or alcohol or involved with another
vehicle that the driver was under the influence of drugs or
alcohol. The results are normally major due to the fact
that your judgment is impaired due to alcohol or drugs,
legal or illegal. The vehicles are changed out periodically
by one of our sponsors at Affordable Towing.
The current vehicle on the D.U.I. Awareness Trailer
is a Chevy S-10 pick-up truck. This truck was involved in a
near head on collision on I-26 near the Cosgrove Exit. The
truck entered onto I-26 going the wrong way. The vehicle
was struck by large truck, possibly a tractor- trailer. The
driver of the Chevy S-10 had to be cut out of the truck by
Charleston County Rescue and immediately taken to M.U.S.C.
for emergency treatment. Upon S.C. Highway Patrol
investigation, the driver of the truck was intoxicated
which caused the driver to go the wrong way on I-26. The
driver did survive the collision but will have permanent
head trauma.
