FORD MUSTANG
Our newest additions to the North Charleston Police
Traffic Unit are two white 2006 GT Coupe Deluxe Mustangs.
Inside these Retros from the 60's, are 4.6 liter engines,
3.VOHC-V8, packing 300 horsepower each. They arrived with
Pirelli P-235 tires and bullet style steel wheels. They
also house cloth bucket seats for easier maintenance, black
GT accent stripes over the hood, top and trunk, and a 5
speed automatic transmission. They are outfitted with the
newest stalker radar units, dual Talon blue
LED lighting front and rear, and four corner strobes,
also the latest mobile vision compact video system, with
wireless transmission. The mission of these two
twin stallions will be to blend in with traffic,
hunt down and alter traffic violators on our main
thorough fares as well as deep inside of our communities
where we live. They are an assets to the arsenal of tools
that our traffic unit utilizes. We bid farewell to our
unmarked Camaro, which was recently taken out by a Drunk
Driver during a traffic stop on Rivers Ave in June of this
year.
Also our marked Camaro was recently retired to the
bone yard due to it being overworked. We're moving into the
future, progressively and steady to improve the quality of
life for the residence of North Charleston and to those
that are here to visit.

HISTORY OF THE N.C.P.D. MUSTANG
Looking back, the North Charleston Police Department
last utilized Mustangs in the Traffic Unit until 2000. The
Mustang pictured here was a fully marked cruiser and was
deadlined late 2000. Aside from specialized vehicles which
had already been assigned to the Traffic Unit, there have
been no other specialized additions to the Traffic Unit
fleet until July 2006.
